Abbots Midfire Brushable Glaze Floating Green
$29.90
NZD · GST included. Shipping calculated at checkout.
Floating Green has muted green and blue-grey areas, with warmer colour appearing around edges and texture. Pooling and small shifts in tone give it a mineral-like surface rather than a flat block of colour.

Colour & firing notes
This copper-containing formulation is intended for decorative and non-food-contact areas. The supplier recommends independent leach testing before considering it for food or drink surfaces.
How to apply
- Stir the brushable glaze thoroughly, then follow the jar directions for application. Let each coat dry before adding another.
- When layering, test the combined thickness rather than applying two full coatings automatically. Protect the shelf when testing fluid glazes.
- Abbots develops its midfire colours around cone 5–6 heatwork. Use witness cones to check maturity; copying a controller temperature alone will not reproduce another kiln.
Food-contact suitability
For decorative and non-food-contact surfaces. Keep this glaze off food-contact areas and the drinking rim; the supplier does not recommend it for those uses.
Before glazing a full piece
Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
