Amaco Cosmos Midfire Brushable Glaze CO-3 Event Horizon

CO-3 Event Horizon changes markedly with firing temperature. Cone 5 can produce larger crystals with blue and violet highlights, while cone 6 can bring a bright gold surface.

Colour & firing notes

Compare cone 5 and cone 6 test tiles if the colour shift is important to your design. Leave about 13 mm above the foot because this glaze runs.

How to apply

• Apply four coats to cone 04 bisque. Keep the inside or back of the form unglazed for the manufacturer’s preferred decorative result.
• A normal medium-speed firing can produce crystals; controlled cooling can increase crystal growth. Test the programme before using it on a finished piece.

Food-contact suitability

Amaco does not recommend Cosmos for food-contact surfaces because of durability. Use for decorative work and keep it away from drinking rims and food-contact areas.

Before glazing a full piece

Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
