Amaco Cosmos Midfire Brushable Glaze CO-6 Supernova

CO-6 Supernova is a translucent creamy-white glaze with a frosted crystalline effect. The glossy surface has an opalescent quality, with warmer cream showing at breaks.

Colour & firing notes

Amaco recommends cone 5 for the best result, with cone 6 also possible. This glaze is highly fluid; allow about 13 mm of clearance above the foot.

How to apply

• Apply four coats to cone 04 bisque. Keep the inside or back of the form unglazed for the manufacturer’s preferred decorative result.
• A normal medium-speed firing can produce crystals; controlled cooling can increase crystal growth. Test the programme before using it on a finished piece.

Food-contact suitability

Amaco does not recommend Cosmos for food-contact surfaces because of durability. Use for decorative work and keep it away from drinking rims and food-contact areas.

Before glazing a full piece

Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
