Colour & firing notes

Do not thin. Apply 3–4 coats to cone 04 bisque and dry each coat. Amaco's starting point for layered tests is two coats over two coats.

How to apply

  • Keep the jar well mixed and allow the coating to dry between brush coats. Thickness and firing orientation change the phase-separated pattern.
  • Layering with another fluid glaze can cause runs. Use a catch tile and test the exact coat count and layer order.

Food-contact suitability

Check the current jar label for food-contact suitability. A finished piece needs a sound, cleanable glaze surface that fits the clay and has matured correctly; a product label alone does not certify every clay, glaze or layered combination.

Before glazing a full piece

Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
