RG-3 Mantis is a brushable glaze in Laguna's Rainforest range, developed from its Robin's Egg glaze base. The liquid formulation is intended for brush application at cone 5–6.

Colour & firing notes

Rainforest can be fired in oxidation or reduction. Compare the result under your actual atmosphere and clay conditions before glazing a set.

How to apply

• Mix the liquid glaze thoroughly and follow the jar’s brushing instructions. The liquid product sold here does not use the mixing recipe for a dry dipping glaze.
• If consistency needs adjustment, put a small working quantity in a separate container and make a test before changing the whole jar.

Food-contact suitability

The supplier describes this range as suitable for food and drink containers when properly fired on compatible clay. Confirm the jar label and check the finished surface for glaze fit, maturity and cleanability.

Before glazing a full piece

Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
