SW-425 Black Melt Gloop creates raised dots and drips rather than a conventional brushed coating. Larger dots on vertical surfaces give stronger movement, and the effect becomes more mobile and textured at cone 10 reduction.

Colour & firing notes

Apply with a syringe or squeeze bottle to greenware or cone 04 stoneware bisque. Lightly dampen bisque for adhesion and handle gently. It stays dimensional over fired underglaze or engobe but flattens when combined with a glaze; fire promptly after application.

How to apply

  • Mix thoroughly; this product is deliberately thick. Use a suitable squeeze bottle or syringe to place dots or drips rather than applying standard brush coats.
  • Larger dots on upright surfaces increase movement. A horizontal line can separate into downward drips; use a catch tile to establish clearance.

Food-contact suitability

Use for decorative surfaces rather than food-contact or drinking-rim areas. Texture or surface durability makes this a poor choice for those areas; choose a suitable liner glaze for functional ware.

Before glazing a full piece

Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
