Colour & firing notes
One coat favours brown, while two or three develop more cream. Cone 10 reduction changes it towards grey-brown.
How to apply
- Stir thoroughly before brushing, especially when crystals or specks have settled. Follow the individual label for the coat count and let coats dry.
- The colour description uses the stated firing conditions. Cone 10 reduction can give a very different result from cone 6 oxidation; match the clay and kiln programme to the intended firing.
Food-contact suitability
Check the current jar label for food-contact suitability. A finished piece needs a sound, cleanable glaze surface that fits the clay and has matured correctly; a product label alone does not certify every clay, glaze or layered combination.
Before glazing a full piece
Fire a test tile on your chosen clay before glazing a full piece. Record the coats, firing cone and cooling programme. Photographs show example fired results; clay colour, kiln atmosphere and application can change the appearance.
